Gonkstock is a one-day music festival, with live local music, cheap beer and strange behaviour, heading the UK festival season on the long hot summer nights of the solstice.
History
Gonkstock was established in summer of 2016 by the unemployed duo of Eddie and Matt as an excuse to make t-shirts. The debut festival, GONKSTOCK '94, took place on 22nd July 2016, and was a moderately successful affair, albeit ill-attended. Activities included a halloumi barbecue and board games.
GONKSTOCK '95 stole the Glastonbury weekend of 2017, from 4pm til late on Saturday 24th June. The line-up included This Good Doggo, Fluid Love, and MIDI, and was attended by a peak crowd of 36 friends and family.
2018 saw GONKSTOCK '96 take Croxley respectably by storm, on the sweltering night of Saturday 30th June, with bands including Fluid Love, Ronnie Maurice and Mrs Lum, supported by about 60 fellow Gonkers.
GONKSTOCK '97 took a spot by the summer solstice of 2019 on Saturday 22nd June, with a packed lineup including Fluid Love, Ronnie Maurice, Mrs Lum, Lizzy Hardingham, Haha Nelson Voice, and loads of jazz, for a crowd of 80 Hertfordshire heroes.
Gonkstock took a fallow year in 2020, and a COVID-induced break in 2021, giving the famous Croxley grass a chance to flourish. Eddie hosted an informal live radio show on Saturday 20th June 2020 as GONKSTOCK 98.1.
